چکیده
Abstract The adoption of dicamba-resistant cotton ( Gossypium hirsutum L.) cultivars allows using dicamba to reduce weed populations across growing seasons. However, the overuse this tool risks selecting new herbicide-resistant biotypes. objectives research were determine population trajectories several species and track frequency glyphosate-resistant (GR) Palmer amaranth Amaranthus palmeri S. Watson) over 8 yr in cotton. An experiment was established North Carolina 2011, during first 4 yr, different herbicide programs applied. These included postemergence applications glyphosate, alone or with dicamba, without residual herbicides. During last all received glyphosate plus dicamba. Biennial rotations only preemergence herbicides also included. Sequential applied entire test area for final study. No program entirely successful controlling community. Weed according program, creating possible outcomes; some increased, others decreased, remained stable. Density resistant A. increased glyphosate-only (up 11,739 plants m −2 ) decreased a 96% when implemented. This had strong influence on levels other Goosegrass [ Eleusine indica (L.) Gaertn.] not affected by even its density programs, indicating that resistance but reproductive rates competitive dynamics are critical determining under intensive herbicide-based control programs. Frequency reached maximum 62% after those maintained until end experiment.

Glyphosate-resistant Palmer amaranth: A threat to conservation tillage
Conservation tillage reduces the physical movement of soil to the minimum required for crop establishment and production. When consistently practiced as a soil and crop management system, it greatly reduces soil erosion and is recognized for the potential to improve soil quality and water conservation and plant available water. Adoption of conservation tillage increased dramatically with the ad...
متن کاملLoss of Glyphosate Efficacy: A Changing Weed Spectrum in Georgia Cotton
Introduction of glyphosate resistance into crops through genetic modification has revolutionized crop protection. Glyphosate is a broad-spectrum herbicide with favorable environmental characteristics and effective broad-spectrum weed control that has greatly improved crop protection efficiency. However, in less than a decade, the utility of this technology is threatened by the occurrence of gly...
متن کاملInteractions of tillage and cover crop on water, sediment, and pre-emergence herbicide loss in glyphosate-resistant cotton: implications for the control of glyphosate-resistant weed biotypes.
The need to control glyphosate [N-(phosphonomethyl)glycine]-resistant weed biotypes with tillage and preemergence herbicides in glyphosate-resistant crops (GRCs) is causing a reduction in no-tillage hectarage thereby threatening the advances made in water quality over the past decade. Consequently, if environmental gains afforded by GRCs are to be maintained, then an in-field best management pr...
متن کاملDecreased Sensitivity of Palmer Amaranth to Glyphosate Through Selection
The evolution of glyphosate-resistant Palmer amaranth is the result of overreliance on glyphosate alone for weed control in glyphosate-resistant crops. It is believed that the use of reduced glyphosate rates may have contributed to the evolution of resistance in Palmer amaranth; however, data to support this hypothesis are lacking. Therefore, an experiment was conducted in the greenhouse at the...
